Students must be at least 3 years of age as of September 1, 2026 in order to enroll in a PreK program for the 2026-2027 school year.
There are two options to attend preschool:

OPTION 1: OSSU Public Preschool Programs
OSSU District-run programs operate at Lakeview Early Education Center and Craftsbury Elementary School. Residents of Craftsbury, Greensboro, Hardwick, Stannard, Wolcott, and Woodbury can attend these programs at no cost.
- Craftsbury Preschool operates half days on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Find out more about Craftsbury Preschool at https://ossu.org/enroll/pre-kindergarten/about-craftsbury
- Lakeview Early Education Center is a full day, 5 days a week program. Part-time enrollment is available. Find out more about Lakeview Early Education Center at https://ossu.org/enroll/pre-kindergarten/about-lakeview

OPTION 2: UPK Tuition Payment to an Approved Provider
You must register with OSSU and with your chosen provider. OSSU will provide tuition assistance for 10 hours per week up to $4,106.00 per year. You can find UPK programs on the Vermont Agency of Education website.

If you are not currently enrolled in one of our programs or receiving UPK funds, you must register through the OSSU Registration Portal at https://bit.ly/ossu-pre-registration.

- If you are already enrolled at Lakeview or Craftsbury and wish to remain in that program next year, you should have already been contacted by the program to confirm your spot. If you have not declared your intent to return, please do so directly to the program.
- If you are already enrolled at Lakeview or Craftsbury and wish to switch to UPK tuition, you will need to complete the OSSU Act 166 26-27 Tuition request form AND enroll separately in your chosen program.
- If you are already enrolled as a UPK student and wish to continue receiving UPK tuition for next year, you will need to complete the OSSU Act 166 26-27 Tuition request form at for the upcoming year.

Is there a preference system for enrollment in a particular program?
In-district students will be given preference over out-of-district students. For example, students residing in a Mountain View Union Elementary School District member town (Greensboro, Hardwick, Woodbury, or Stannard) will be given a spot in the Lakeview preschool program before a student residing in Craftsbury could enroll.
