This fall, Wolcott Elementary students in grades K-6 participated in a pottery making project led by visiting artist Heather Stearns of Muddy Creek Pottery. Using elements of the Wolcott Community Forest as inspiration, each student manipulated a lump of clay into a bowl of their own design which was fired, glazed, and fired again to create unique yet functional artworks. Wolcott community members were invited to view the finished products in a temporary gallery before a celebratory soup lunch where students ate out of their bowls for the first time. Our sincere thanks to Vermont Arts Council's Artists in Schools Grant for funding this experience for our kids!
