Hazen Union School is pleased to announce that Mr. Oluwadare Sowunmi joined the Wildcat faculty and staff as athletic and activities director on December 6, 2022.

Mr. Sowunmi (known by students as Mr. O) is from the Bronx, New York, and attended A Phillip Randolph Campus High School in the heart of Harlem, NY. For 5 years, he was a basketball varsity athlete at Castleton University and in 2021 he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. This year, Mr. Sowunmi completed a Master of Science with a focus in Athletic Leadership, also from Castleton University.

Mr. Sowunmi comes to us most recently from the South Burlington School District, where he worked with athletic director Mike Jabour.

Mr. Sowunmi stated, “I am excited to be joining Hazen Union as athletic and activities director. I was born and raised in the Bronx, NY (yes, I'm a Yankees fan). I am a first-generation born in America and have played sports all my life. In high school, I played basketball, soccer, and volleyball. Additionally, I played basketball at the collegiate level at Castleton and on the international level in Australia. Sports have always been a big part of my life and have shown me life lessons, values, and friendships that I will cherish for a lifetime. I am excited to continue to help shape and grow Hazen athletics. Most importantly, I am excited to see student-athletes develop and thrive academically and on their respective playing fields.”

Hazen Union warmly welcomes Mr. Sowunmi to the Wildcat family. Learn more about Hazen Union Wildcats Athletics.
