Hiring Process

All positions must be applied for through SchoolSpring. Submitted applications are viewable by our human resources staff and the hiring manager.  Hiring managers or a member of their staff will contact the candidates that best meet the position requirements for an interview. Timelines for reviewing applications vary by position and school.  Please allow at least two weeks after submitting your application before contacting HR for a status update.

Employment Requirements

Prospective employees are subject to the background checks listed below. All offers of employment are conditioned upon acceptable background check results. In the event an employee commences employment prior to the completion of the background check process, continued employment shall also be conditioned upon acceptable background check results:

  • Criminal Background & Registry Checks
  • VT Licensing Disciplinary Action Checks
  • Licensing Check
  • VT Depart. of Motor Vehicle Checks
  • Additional Background Check Resources

In addition to the background checks, prior to employment within our districts, all employees must complete additional required employment paperwork (e.g. Form I-9, Form W-4, etc.). These forms will be completed when you meet with OSSU Human Resources to complete the background check requirements.
In order for us to complete the requirements of the Form I-9, you must bring two forms of identification with you to the meeting: One form of identification must establish identity (e.g. unexpired driver's’ license, VT Liquor Control ID, photo student I.D., etc.) and the other must establish employment eligibility (e.g. social security card, birth certificate, and the like).

A summary of some of the benefits is available on this website. Please refer to the appropriate master agreement or employment contract for specific eligibility information. If information found on this site conflicts with the master agreement/employment contract, the master agreement/employment contract takes precedence.

All new employees or newly benefit-eligible employees have 30 days from the date of hire to enroll in benefits.  You MUST enroll during this 30 day window to receive your benefits.
