REACH!
Since 2001, the REACH! Afterschool and Summer Program have provided afterschool and summer enrichment opportunities for all students in the OSSU. Our current sites include programs for K-8 at Craftsbury Schools, K-6 at Hardwick Elementary, and K-6 at Wolcott Elementary. Any youth who resides in these towns may attend REACH!, even if they attend another school or are homeschooled. All families are welcome.
Our mission is to expand participants' horizons through engaging activities focused on academic improvement, cultural opportunities and community health and well-being.
What we stand for:
Recreation: Plant the seed for enjoyable life-long physical activity.
Enrichment: Expand a child's horizon; connect the world around us.
Academics: Support and reinforce the learning from the classroom.
Culture: Explore diversity through drama, visual arts and music.
Health: Relate our choices to our well-being
Afterschool Programs:
Afterschool programs are held throughout the academic year and typically begin on the first full week of school for 32-34 weeks. Programs are held every day that school is in session, with the exception of half days. Programs normally end the Friday before Memorial Day, but may extend closer to the end of school depending. Enrichment programs include: recreation, art, cooking, music, literacy, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), theater, culture studies, sports, outdoor exploration, language , and more.
Summer Programs:
New this year! REACH! is offering a centralized summer camp program at our Hardwick Campus for all families in Craftsbury and Wolcott. Through this program we offer field trips (a camp favorite is Lake Eden Recreation Area), small group tutoring, arts, themed enrichment, and recreation. During our summer programs we partner with Hardwick Recreation Committee and schools to provide seven weeks of summer programs. We offer swimming lessons, enrichment, tutoring, sports/adventure camps, and much more!
REACH! is in large part funded by a 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant from the VT Agency of Education. We are also supported by local school budgets, businesses, participant fees, many community partners, and friends.
Interested in making a donation or volunteering for REACH!? Contact program director Ceilidh Galloway-Kane at 802.472.2588 or email cgallowaykane@ossu.org
We greatly appreciate the support of our community!
