PCB Testing in Vermont Schools
Testing in OSSU schools is being done according to the schedule determined by the State of Vermont. In October of 2023, Hardwick Elementary School was tested and the results are available here: https://anrweb.vt.gov/DEC/PCBPublic/SchoolDetails.aspx?ID=186. Some areas of the school tested above the action level. Filter units and other mitigation measures have been installed in these areas while a long-term remediation plan is developed. Currently Hazen Union School is scheduled to be tested in the fall of 2024, Lakeview and Woodbury Elementary Schools in 2025, and Craftsbury Schools in 2026. It should be noted that the State of Vermont has delayed the testing schedule multiple times and continues to debate how and when testing should be conducted. OSSU will continue to update testing schedules as we get more information. Wolcott Elementary School does not need to be tested due to its age.
