Dr. David Baker

Dr. David Baker joined OSSU as Superintendent on July 1, 2022.

From 2012-2022, Dr. Baker served as Superintendent of Schools for the Windsor Southeast Supervisory Union (Hartland, Windsor, West Windsor, and Weathersfield). He has extensive superintendent experience, also serving as St. Johnsbury Superintendent of Schools for ten years. In addition, David has been a Principal, a Director of Curriculum, and an adjunct professor in several Vermont Colleges and Universities. David began his career in Rhode Island as a teacher and administrator. His resume reveals a strong background in curriculum and instruction and organizational development.

Dr. Baker received his doctoral degree in Educational Administration from UVM in 1993. He earned his undergraduate degree and Master of Education degree from Rhode Island College. He served as the Principal for Barre Middle School, in Barre, Vermont from 1989-1994 and prior to that leadership experience  he was the Principal at the Blue Mountain Union School in Wells River from 1984-1989.

David is a resident of Danville, Vermont, where he and his wife Mary Ann raised seven children. David is proud to share that all seven of his children chose to go into the field of education. He is excited about returning to the Northeast Kingdom to continue his work as an educational leader.
